The roman town of Suweida is home to the regional museum for the Hauran, which, though small, has some very fine exhibits. The singular sculptural style of the region utilising the hard basalt stone, can been seen in many of the examples on display. The museum is perhaps most famous for its splendid fourth century AD mosaics. Many are from nearby Shabha and are among the finest in the Eastern Roman world.
